Mehran wins 2011 Googoosh Music Academy

Mehran, the winner of 2011 Googoosh Music Academy
Googoosh Music Academy is perhaps one of the most watched Persian TV programs inside Iran. Last Wednesday four of the Academy finalists, Mehran, Ava, Amir, and Mahan performed for the last time in the competition to earn people’s vote.
The results were announced Friday on the show’s last episode and Mehran Atash was named the 2011 Googoosh Music Academy winner, claiming the $10,000 prize.
In a highlight of the night, Googoosh performed live on TV after 34 years. She sang “Ye Harfaee” along with Babak Saeedi and the full cast of Academy participants. (Watch the video.)
Mehran Atash is a resident of London, UK. He had performed with the late Iran-based artist Nasser Abodllahi when he was younger. Mehran’s last performance in the Academy was also a song by Abdollahi.
In another part of the show titled ‘Sedahaye Ghayeb’ (or Absent Voices), submissions from participants who could not attend the show live (most of them in Iran) were shown. Farhad from Esfahan was announced the winner of the Absent Voices.
